Comment bien entretenir une peau grasse?

How to properly care for oily skin?

Oily skin is skin that secretes more sebum than average but is nevertheless dehydrated, it lacks water. Excess oil on the skin gives it a shiny appearance and makes makeup last less well. Since the skin breathes less well, blackheads tend to settle more easily. People with oily skin have thicker skin, which tends to wrinkle less quickly (a nice advantage, after all!) and on which the skin pores are larger. Not sure what your skin type is? Take the test here ! You'll find out for sure!

Certain factors beyond your control will promote the secretion of sebum, for example:

  • The rules
  • Puberty
  • Pregnancy
  • Taking certain medications

There are, on the other hand, factors over which you have control:

  • Stress
  • A healthy and balanced diet: avoid excess sugar, alcohol and fatty foods
  • Lack of rest
  • Using products that are “too harsh” on the skin

Here are some tips to properly care for your oily skin for maximum comfort and beautiful skin:

  • Avoid cosmetics that may prevent the skin from breathing. For example, foundation, oily, non-penetrating moisturizer, etc.
  • Use treatments that help regulate sebum.
  • Maintain hydration with non-greasy cream .
  • Avoid using soaps that are too harsh or drying, which would only activate sebum secretion.
  • Favor the use of mild soap with a slightly acidic pH (oily skin is more alkaline than normal). Try this one .
  • Avoid squeezing your pimples, which can make them worse! Instead, use a product containing antiseptic essential oils to help clear up the pimple early or help it fade faster.
  • Perform a gentle exfoliation once a week to free skin pores and allow skin to breathe. By freeing skin pores of impurities, you increase your chances of developing comedones and blackheads.

Don't be afraid to moisturize your skin, though—on the contrary! People with oily skin often tend to have dehydrated skin because they want to get rid of sebum at all costs. You should keep in mind that a moisturizer can help regulate sebum, even if it's in the form of an oily serum! Well-hydrated and well-maintained oily skin will be less oily on a daily basis.
